Andrew Plotkin’s interactive fiction game The Dreamhold was released in 2004. Its major goal is to serve as an introduction to Interactive Fiction (IF), and as a result, the “core” of the game is rather simple to complete.
To appeal to experienced IF players, Plotkin incorporated a “expert mode” that may be enabled early in the game and makes certain puzzles more difficult.
It was named Best Puzzles and Best Use of Medium at the 2004 XYZZY Awards.
