A busy weekend on tap

This weekend, I’ll be doing web site critiques along with Bryan Murley at the Associated Collegiate Press (ACP) fall convention here in D.C. I’m excited (for real!) to spend a chunk of my Saturday talking with student journalists about design and information architecture.

I’m also preparing for the College Communicators Association fall conference next Thursday and Friday at the University of Mary Washington in Stafford and Fredericksburg, Va. I’m putting together a pre-conference workshop with Martha Burtis and Andy Rush at UMW entitled “A Practical Guide to Social Media” and also putting together a session entitled “Authenticity, Credibility and the Online Institution” for Friday morning. Both of these sessions should be recorded, so I’ll try to post a link to the audio on here after next weekend.

The second CCA session is a topic I’m currently researching for one of my classes (Communication Technology and Organizations) this semester, and it might eventually turn into a thesis topic. I have one more year until I need to decide on a thesis topic, though, and I reserve the right to change my mind up until that point in time.

(Speaking of academic work, I should probably get back to finishing up that take-home midterm exam for the aforementioned class.)

Or was it you who critiqued Broadside Online?

I might've mistook you for Brian (on the Innovation College Media blog). Yet Facebook profile pictures set all wrongs straight.

Thanks again for the critique!

Yep, that was me. Glad we could talk about Broadside Online—your experience reminded me of my experiences trying to assemble a staff/gain respect as the online editor at the Indiana Daily Student. Solidarity!
